Cannot believe how fast the month has flown by...it's the 29th of November!!! Know what that means? Crunch time!! Will be putting in quite a few long hours with my foot on the sewing pedal getting a Christmas order completed, making a couple of Tardis quilts to post on Etsy & finishing a couple of gifts for loved ones (can't say who's the lucky recipients are in case they are reading this)! Anyone working on homemade gifts? Care to share?
I absolutely love the direct sales company Thirty-One's large utility totes to store my fabric stash! They hold as much fabric as a 30 gallon tote does but look so much prettier LOL. I even try to match the color of the tote with the coordinating fabrics (I have my xmas fabric in a bag covered with snowmen!) My hubby built special shelves in my sewing room just to hold these so my wall is a colorful display of totes. What really makes them great to use is I can reach up and grab one by the handles and pull down AND I can carry 2 at one time instead of just one tote. It has made things so much nicer.
The month of November features a limited edition medium size utility tote that I use for specialty fabrics and to tote things to my guild meetings. Yes it's true I can get a little obsessive...but doesn't every girl love a new bag (or in th so excited! I presented my Tardis quilt top to my client yesterday and she LOVED IT!! Just thrilled that it looked exactly like the picture she sent me. What a feeling of accomplishment!
While watching The Walking Dead last night, I worked on adapting my Tardis pattern to a wall hanging/crib size & possibly even smaller. So many ideas running thru my head...if only I had more hours in the day! Work has begun on the Tardis quilt! For those non-Whovians, a Tardis is the time machine that Doctor Who (from BBC) travels in thru space & time. My son got me hooked on Dr. Who and I've become a true fanatic!
Today I went out to select the fabric for the backing and found GLOW IN THE DARK space fabric!! Very cool...asked several ladies if they thought teenagers would like this on a quilt (showed pic of Tardis) and all said even they would like the fabric. So...you guessed it...several yards are now residing in my sewing room waiting for the tops to be compl Halloween Parade is finished!! WOOHOO!! Put the last stitches in the binding 10 minutes ago. Love the feeling of accomplishment when I complete a quilt. Will post a pic as soon as I can get my son to hold it up...it's so big!! Cannot wait to decorate my trunk with it at our Trunk or Treat this Saturday (26th), 1-4pm at Newark Baptist Church on Rt. 273 in Elkton, MD. Stop by if you can!
you know what they say about hindsight...one of the things I regret is giving away my son Blake's amazing collection of animal/Dinosaur t-shirts. We would search for the perfect realistic graphics everywhere...whales from Maui, Gorilla from San Diego, white tigers from Las Vegas, etc. What an amazing T-shirt quilt he would have if I had kept them!!!
So as you're cleaning out your kids old clothes, think about what you're getting rid of before throwing into a box. Someday those favorite shirts, holiday dresses, baby clothes, etc. may become precious memories that can be made into a cherished heirloom! note to self...don't try to catch a falling hot iron! Ouch!! My fingers hurt!
Today's quilting day for my Halloween Parade quilt. Thanks to my friend Sarah, I've signed up to participate in a "Trunk or Treat" this Saturday at my church. Guess what I'm decorating the trunk and going as? Yup...a quilter!! Need to get the quilting finished so I can work on the binding tonight. I didn't realize how big it ended up 73"x73"! B So excited that the website is starting to really come together! Sometimes I feel like I should have taken a web design class LOL. Every day there's a new trick or feature that I can use to enhance...love it!!
Today's a big day for LQC. I'm designing a Tardis quilt!! Cannot wait to see how it turns out. I'm pretty sure I'll have to make one for this household, although, Blake and I will probably be fighting over it...maybe I should design 2 styles? |
